Skipper
Skipper is the unique musical project of Mike Schepers, who worked two and a half year in the studio of indieproducer Corno Zwetsloot on his debut album ‘Architecture and Design’. Skipper combines Phil Spector's wall-of-sound aestethics with the distorted soundscapes of Jan Jelinek and Broadcast. Skipper delivers a sparkling set of sweet yet muscular pop. The Beach Boys' vocal harmonies on glitchy rhythm tracks, topped off with tons of echo, delay and white noise. ‘Architecture and Design’ is one of the more solid and thought-out releases so far this year. SR020 will be the first time that Skipper performs live.

We Swim You Jump
We Swim You Jump is the latest revelation from Groningen. These five guys know their way with a lot of different styles of pop music. In We Swim You Jump they combine their creativity and play the most melodic and most beautiful pop songs, like influences Nada Surf, The Posies and Elliott Smith did. Subroutine released their self titled debut EP just a month ago, which is positively reviewed by a lot of weblogs. Next to the show on SR020, We Swim You Jump will also perform at Eurosonic.

awkward i
Awkward i is a singer/songwriter from Amsterdam and his EP ‘False Starts in Lo-Fi’ was the first release by Subroutine Records. During the time that passed Awkward i developed his style, by letting new influences into his Elliott Smith-based music and from new musical ideas he got as bassplayer in the well-known Dutch band Alamo Race Track. On this very moment Awkward i is recording his first full-length album, which will be released this spring, by the time he will play at SxSW, in Austin, Texas.

Hospital Bombers
Hospital Bombers is one of the best bands from Holland, because of their perspective of songwriting: the songs of Hospital Bombers are, initially, very loose, extremely melodic, frivolous, but in essence they are very well thought-out, with a lot of sixties influences in them. Hospital Bombers played SxSW and CMJ before and at the last two editions they were one of the best Dutch bands of the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival. Hospital Bombers play SR020, because they are friends of Subroutine.

Fuck the Writer
Rotterdam based singer/songwriter Fuck the Writer (Emil van Steenwijk) released his first home recorded LP in 'Maar ik dans niet" ("But I won't dance") in relative anonimity, but still managed to attract a firm fanbase for his music. Fuck the Writer stands out from the crowd of fellow singer/songwriters with his expressive lyrics, his use of different musical genres and his unbelievable productivity.
Subroutine Records signed him in 2006 and soon thereafter "Keeping the Aspidistra Flying" was released, which received much critical acclaim. Now, on the brink of the release of the new album, Fuck the Writer will perform his new material with a full band.

Eklin
After shocking the Dutch crowds and press with furious live sets and an uncompromising first record, Adept was received as one of the greatest revelations of the last years in the Netherlands. The dark, experimental electronoise/wave of the band was live performed with two old synthesizers, screeching guitar effects and the ritual banging on cymbals. In the following years front man Michiel Klein hypnotized crowds at Popkomm, CMJ and SXSW with his haunting stage performance. Recently the band announced to continue under the name Eklin. Different name, different formation, same urgency.

Accadians
Accadians formed from the ashes of Propeller, three of its members have started a new indie suite in their hometown Groningen the Netherlands. SR020 will be Accadians’ first gig and it will (probably) be as successful as the performance of Propeller at Eurosonic 2006, that BBC’s Radio1 was very enthusiastic about. Accadians tries to combine the member's love for indie, pop, noise, math and electronics. Raw and powerfull beats, strange rhythms, noise, but always some sort of song lurking around the corner.

AC Berkheimer
This Rotterdam based band combines fierce guitar riffs with dark and dreamy vocals. A sound that can also be described as a wall of melancholy. A sound which needs the time to understand it properly. AC Berkheimer made, together with producer Corno Zwetsloot, a beautiful, multi-layered shoegaze-album, which also was picked out by the DJ’s of KEXP.org in Seattle. According to them AC Berkheimer makes ‘music that matters’. Music based on the influences of My Bloody Valentine, Electrelane and the poppy Sonic Youth.

Vox von Braun
Like Vox von Braun says: ‘We play the kind of music that should come out of the transistor radio of two peroxide-blondes, driving
a convertible in any of your favourite mid-seventies road movies.’ Vox von Braun is a four piece band from Groningen.
They make an excellent kind of dreamy and melodic indiepop, which can compete with the brilliance of Stephen Malkmus, The Other Half and My Bloody Valentine. Their debut album, Something Ain’t Wrong’ is critically acclaimed by the music press and Vox von Braun was podcasted by KEXP, as ‘Song of the Day’.

The Moi Non Plus
The Moi Non Plus is one of the most energetic bands from Holland. The band plays an experimental kind of noise, like Sonic Youth or the uptempo sounds of Liars. Full of breaks, melodic choruses, howlin' guitar riffs and pounding drum parts. The Moi Non Plus is a duo from Amsterdam. Both of the members are active in Subbacultcha!, a great indie platform that organises gigs in and around Amsterdam, where great indie bands play in cool venues. The Moi Non Plus performed
at SxSW, CMJ and Popkomm last year.
