Zea is the solo alias of Arnold de Boer (Makkum, 1974). Using a minimal set-up of guitar and sampler, Zea creates a maximal one-man polemical beat punk future-folk juggernaut that brings him all over the world. Last year ZEA released 'Moarn gean ik dea', his first album in his mother tongue of Frisian, instilling the world with Frisian like Whitney Houson has taught the world English. More personal, more direct and intense than before, Zea is putting songs like objects in front of the listener, songs you can look at, set between people or take home and hang on your wall.
From Maastricht we welcome Bawrence of Aralia. Their guitar driven indie pop means to squeeze loads of melody, rythm and catchyness in short, compact songs. We have heard debut album 'Bawredom', expected in early 2018, and that sounds mightily impressive. You can already listen to the title track of that album on their Bandcamp.
All the way from Beat City Meppel comes Combo Koedijk. In January their second LP 'Door De Regio Met Het Combo Koedijk' is out on the transcendent Kuriosa Records [ES/NL], closely followed by the EP 'Het Combo Koedijk Luustert Zo Groag Noar Garage Rock' out on Subroutine.
Flowers brings stoner rock back to its embryonic state, confidently pushing its primeval characteristics towards unmapped places. Within the limited instrumentation the dynamics are stretched to the max: from doom-laden noise onslaughts to gloomy, forlorn minimalism. Though poised and stylish, the emotional release unfolding is unfiltered, uncompromising and hard-hitting. Groningen debut.
HOWRAH is a band arising from the ashes of former bands Zoppo & Space Siren. Started off in the summer of 2016. Kees Appeldoorn is singing and pullingĀ strings again, boosted by Space Siren's rhythm section Ineke Duivenvoorde (drums) and Aico Turba (bass). Gijs Loots (Slow Worries, Bombay) recently joined HOWRAH on guitar. They play edgy, melodic song-based music.
HOWRAH is currently working on a full album at the Next to Jaap / Katzwijm studio in Voorhout, which is to be released early 2018
The word 'sonder' means "the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own." The members of SONNDR are far from random, but familair faces in the Dutch underground, playing a pitch-black pollination of noise, post-punk and no-wave.
Lewsberg from Rotterdam is a four-piece rock group named after writer and fellow Rotterdam citizen Robert Loesberg, famous for his novel Enige Defecten from 1974 (never translated). That is the greatest source of inspiration for the band: the counterculture and big-city cynicism of the 60s and 70s. Lewsberg makes rudimentary and repetitive rock songs, full of a tough, nonchalant intensity. The English lyrics, brought with a heavy Rotterdam accent, show a tendency towards existentialism and black humour.
As a full-time member of Utrecht-based folk/slowcore formation I Am Oak, Dutch musician R. De Selby is a versatile talent with an ear for both delightful melodies and foggy atmospherics. De Selby has a knack for creating intriguing sound collages, loops and drones through impeccable guitar melodies. During his solo performances, he explores his guitar's sound palette to unleash dreamy, surrealistic noise-scapes.
Naive Set is a four-piece Amsterdam band, performing and releasing music in the guitar-pop tradition of bands like the Kinks, the Modern Lovers, the Clean, and the Twerps. Their music has been described as "smart, super-catchy indiepop. Addictive." by 3voor12 (vpro) and "jangly pop harmonies that sound like an unhurried summer's day" by Under the Radar. Incendiary Magazine writes, "Naive Set are pretty shit hot at harmonies. Naive Set are pretty shit hot full stop." There's a third, eponymous Naive Set LP on the way, which was preceded by the single 'So Far So Gone'
Ghost Bag is the pseudonym of Maastricht based musician Nick Jongen. Together with Berlin based illustrator and comic artist Tine Fetz, they will present work off their upcoming collaboration 'Ghost Bag & Tine Fetz' (lp + zine, 2018), an intimate dialogue of illustrations and home recordings.

FAKE O'S play hardcore punk like The Germs and Circle Jerks did, or more recently The Reatards. Born from frustration and escaping misery, whether substance abuse, unfulfilled promises of the previous generation or mediocrity in general. And the only way to deal with these problems was through making music.
