A fungus were as fond of melody as of tearing it apart at the seams. With their latest offering „Field Relief“, the four-poled Amsterdam troupe has vowed to stitch things back up, though. While their debut „It Already Does That“ saw them layer beauty and angst into a tapestry of contradictions, their second full-length melts these tensions into a wholly different sonic thing: it becomes one again. Firmament-filling guitar arrangements (if the skies were a pasture) meet careful optimism; nimble percussion, bits of synthesizer and piano serve as the backdrop for what reality could be once you close your eyes and let “it” creep up the back of your skull. Dear life, doomsday’s off.
